Charles Joseph Scarborough, commonly known as Joe Scarborough, is an American television host, attorney, political commentator, and former politician. He is best known for co-hosting the MSNBC program Morning Joe alongside his wife. Previously, he hosted Scarborough Country on the network. From 1995 to 2001, Joe served as a Republican representative in the U.S. House of Representatives for Florida’s 1st district.
Early Life
Joe was born on April 9, 1963, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Mary Joanna and George Scarborough, a businessman. He has two siblings, although their names have not been disclosed. Growing up, Joe had a passion for music and football. During his college years, he wrote music and produced CDs with his band, Dixon Mills, which released an album titled Calling on Robert E. Lee. He also coached football and taught at the high school level.

Career
Joe Scarborough began his career as a lawyer in 1991 after being admitted to the Florida Bar. He practiced law in Pensacola, gaining recognition for his work, particularly in high-profile cases. In 1993, he represented Michael F. Griffin, who was convicted of the murder of Dr. David Gunn. That same year, he also worked on a petition drive opposing a proposed property tax hike in Pensacola, which helped raise his political profile.
Scarborough’s political career gained momentum when he won the Republican primary for Florida’s 1st congressional district in 1994. His victory contributed to the Republicans taking the majority in the House of Representatives for the first time in four decades. Joe’s fourth book, Saving Freedom: Truman, the Cold War, and the Fight for Western Civilization, was released in November 2020.
