Early Life

Angélica Guadalupe Celaya, popularly known for her role as Jenni Rivera in Mariposa del Barrio, was born on July 9, 1982, in Tucson, Arizona, USA. Her mother is Lupita Celaya, though details about her father have not been disclosed. She has a brother named Jesús Celaya. Both of her parents are originally from Mexico. Angélica attended Pueblo High School, where she completed her high school education, and later went to the University of Arizona for her higher studies. However, she left college to pursue her passion for acting. Her dedication to becoming a professional actress led her to where she is today.

Career

Angélica began her acting career in 2003 with the American TV series Ladrón de Corazones, where she played the character Renata. Over the next few years, she appeared in numerous TV series, including Los Plateados, Decisiones, Marina, Gabriel, Vivir Por Ti, and Mientras Haya Vida from 2005 to 2009. In 2010, she starred in the film Dead West as Gloria Valenzuela and appeared in Mas Sabe El Diablo: El Primer Golpe as Rene Cardona. She also took on roles in several TV series that year, such as Perro Amor (as Miranda), Alguien Te Mira (as Eva Zanetti), and Edgar Floats (as Penny).

From 2012 to 2018, Angélica continued to build her career, featuring in shows and films like Burn Notice, El Señor de los Cielos, Dallas, Constantine, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Agent X, The Death of Eva Sofia, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Castle, Mariposa de Barrio, Kiss of Vengeance, Danger One, and Skin in the Game. They married on their son’s first birthday, September 8, 2018.
